LKA Parental Academic Transparency (Act 103)

Purpose
Louisiana Key Academy (LKA) recognizes the importance of strong partnerships between families and schools. Parents and guardians play an essential role in supporting student success and have the right to access information regarding their child’s education, including academic progress, instructional materials, and school policies.
In accordance with Louisiana Act 103 regarding parental academic transparency, LKA is committed to providing families with timely access to information about their child’s academic experience while maintaining a safe, effective, and supportive learning environment.
Parent Access to Academic Information
Parents and guardians may request access to information related to their child’s education, including:
- Student academic progress and performance
- Course materials and instructional resources used with their child
- Curriculum information and academic standards
- Assessment information, including state and local assessments
- School policies and procedures related to student learning
- Information regarding student supports and interventions
LKA will provide reasonable access to requested information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and school procedures.
Instructional Materials Transparency
LKA will provide parents with information regarding instructional materials used to support student learning. Instructional materials may include:
- Curriculum resources
- Textbooks and supplemental materials
- Digital learning resources
- Assessment resources
- Instructional programs and interventions
Due to copyright restrictions, licensing agreements, and instructional planning considerations, some materials may only be available for review rather than reproduction or distribution.
Request Process
Parents or guardians who wish to review academic information or instructional materials may submit a request to the school principal or designated school administrator.
Requests should include:
- Parent/guardian name and contact information
- Student name and grade level
- Specific information or materials requested
LKA will acknowledge requests within a reasonable timeframe and provide access consistent with applicable laws and school procedures.
Access to Student Records
Access to student education records will be provided in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and applicable state laws.
Parents and guardians may request access to records maintained by the school, including academic records and other educational information related to their child.
Parent Communication and Engagement
LKA encourages ongoing communication between families and school staff. Parents are
encouraged to:
- Communicate regularly with teachers regarding student progress
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and academic meetings
- Review student progress reports and assessment information
- Participate in family engagement opportunities
- Ask questions regarding instructional programs and student supports
Limitations and Protections
While LKA is committed to transparency, access to certain information may be limited
when necessary to:
- Protect student privacy and confidentiality
- Protect personally identifiable information of other students
- Comply with copyright, licensing, or security requirements
- Maintain effective instructional practices
LKA will balance transparency with its responsibility to provide a safe, effective, and equitable learning environment for all students.

Annual Notification of Parent Rights
Louisiana Key Academy will notify parents and guardians annually of their rights regarding access to instructional materials and academic information. Notification will be provided through the LKA Parent Handbook, school website, and parent communication platforms.
