The Transformation Begins Here at LKA
Building confidence, resilience, and a love of learning takes time and the right environment. At Louisiana Key Academy, we provide students with dyslexia the specialized instruction, support, and encouragement they need to thrive. Through daily evidence-based reading instruction, a nurturing school culture, and a focus on each child’s strengths, LKA students grow into empowered learners who believe in their potential.
The Admission Process

Create an account at https://lkaschools.schoolmint.com.

Complete an application and upload supporting documentation. Please indicate the school year in which you are applying in the application portal.

LKA’s team of experts will complete a thorough review of submitted documents to determine if your child may have dyslexia.

If the team finds that your child may be dyslexic, your child’s case will be transferred to the Dyslexia Resource Center for further evaluation for dyslexia.

Enrollment When You Need It Most
Louisiana Key Academy offers rolling admissions, meaning families can apply at any time during the school year. There’s no need to wait for a new school year to begin. When your child has been identified with dyslexia and needs support, we’re here to help now. Our goal is to meet students where they are and provide timely access to the education they deserve.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Open Enrollment work?
When the Open Enrollment period ends, we compare the number of eligible and completed applicants to the number of available seats in each grade level. If more seats are available than eligible and completed applicants, we accept all eligible children who applied during Open Enrollment.
Children who apply after Open Enrollment closes are processed in the order their applications are received. Pending completion of the application process and meeting eligibility requirements, students are placed on the appropriate list - accepted or waiting list.
What do you do if there are more applicants than seats?
If we have fewer seats available than eligible and completed applicants, an electronic lottery will be used to randomly select which eligible applicants get a seat and which eligible applicants are placed on the waiting list.
What happens if I would like to apply after the open enrollment period?
Children who apply after Open Enrollment closes are processed in the order their applications are received. Pending completion of the application process and meeting eligibility requirements, students are placed on the appropriate list - accepted or waiting list. If your child is on the waiting list, don’t be discouraged! Often, seats open up throughout the summer.
